The earbuds come in a small hardshell case that doubles as the charger with a little light on it that glows colors to tell you your charge level. The earbuds came fully charged, so it kind of seems like I will be testing how long the batteries last today, because the sound is amazing. I was slightly apprehensive about the size and weight since I’m used to small and cheap wired ones, or the extra large headphones that cover the ear completely, but these fit perfectly and snug, and the quality is outstanding. No negatives about the experience, all positive. While you can see the earbuds from the front, they are still pretty unobtrusive. It took me a minute to figure out that I needed to download the Sony headphone app to get started, but once installed it synched right up. There’s also an equalizer on the app to play with, an activity tracker, and something new (to me at least) called “360 Reality Audio”, and while I’ve no idea how it works the test sound is incredibly immersive with these embedded deep in your ears. I despise paying subscription fees, but for a change this might be something I need. You don’t need extra to get great sound though, and the earbuds play super well without. There’s no bouncing around, and while working around the house isn’t the same as running with a purpose, I think these would be tough to jog out without plenty of warning to push it back in tighter. Easy 5 stars and then some.

Having not owned a Sony-based set of earbuds or headphones in quite some time, I was very excited to see how and where the C510’s were going to take me! Overall, I am VERY happy with these earbuds!Packaging – First off, packaging is excellent. It’s premium, minimal and there is not an abundant use of materials inside – everything is snug and well-protected. You will find a warranty, instructions, 2 extra pairs of eartips (small and large), and then the earbuds themselves inside the charging case. Please note there is not a USB-C charging cable included which is required to power them.Setup – I was pleased to see the earbuds power up at 100% and the case at 50%, allowing me to get them out, setup in full (fast!), and get a lot of listening in before I decided to charge the case. During this setup on my Pixel 7 Pro, I was even able to get these added to the “Find My Device” network, which seems to function well with the case.Comfort – The fit and comfort of these took me by complete surprise in the best way possible. They go much deeper into my ear canal than expect and it does so in a very safe, snug and secure way. Sony have designed a nicely conforming, tiny shell for these earbuds which slip in and out with ease. The medium eartips have been best for me so far and seal well inside my ear canal and don’t spill any sound and vice-versa. The build quality of the earbuds is outstanding and despite being extremely lightweight, feel nice and premium. The case is also super light and has a very firm hinge when opening and closing it, along with a magnetised opening and magnetised slots to keep the earbuds in place. The matte finish is okay, and I can see it getting scratched quite easily.App – The app is intuitive and easy to use. There are 3 main tabs – “Headphones”, “Activity”, and “Menu” which has information, tips, and a backup feature for presets and other custom features you might want to enable. I personally do not quite understand the need for the Activity tab as it’s a tracker that shows how many hours you use the earbuds and on which day….which my phone already does as it tracks how long I have my preferred music listening apps open.App/EQ – Anyway, from the Headphones tab you are able to see the status, sound (EQ), system (where you can set the side button actions), and services sub-menus. Again, not sure the need for the services menu which just connects to your preferred music listening app. The sound tab is the place to be and features a bunch of settings like ambient sound control which allows you to set the strength of noise cancelling, voice passthrough, an equalizer, “find your equalizer”, “360 reality audio”, bluetooth connection quality, and DSEE, or Digital Sound Enhancement Engine which enhances your audio automatically. I love the “find your EQ” feature which takes you through a bunch of presets to do a quick but effective tweak of your audio preferences. Custom EQ’ing is easy and features 5 sliders for your low, mid and top range frequencies, as well as Sony’s “clear bass”.Audio Quality – Nothing short of excellent for this price! I personally like to drive my EQ up in terms of higher-range (the older you get, the worse your treble audibility gets!), not to mention I love detailed crisp sound for more analytical listening sessions. Well, these earbuds not only allowed me that but also some wonderful thumpy bass that delivers a great deep boom while not being overbearing or covering up other frequencies. Overall, audio comes through with a crispy-thump that makes listening to my preferred genres of metal and its sub-genres a lot of fun, while retaining those finer details. Microphone quality and noise cancelling is okay and has a bit of a strange “distant” sound to it when recordings are completed. So in conclusion, the C510’s are an absolute winner for me, especially at this price. They’re packed with useful features and paired with the app makes for a truly enjoyable listening experience. I would have loved to have seen active noise canceling over the ambient sound mode, but the voice focus makes using that pretty effective. There could also be some extra codecs rather than the standard ones, but again, their DSEE upscaling more than makes up for this and listening to FLAC’s via Plex is very impressive. Sound quality is excellent out of the box but can be enhanced with their easy-to-use EQ.

I like everything about these ear buds (especially the price!), but there is one feature I think Sony could have done better–that little indicator light on the charging case. Maybe it’s just me, but I find the information the light is meant to convey as confusing as Sony’s model designations. What I wish they had done is to make the indicator show orange instead of green ONLY when the case needs to be recharged. As it is, they are trying to show the charge status of both the ear buds and the case with only one indicator, and it makes it very confusing. Other than that, I think Sony has a real winner with these little gems!

First of all, this is a Sony earbud, so it comes with expectations that it will deliver a good sound. That said, with the price point of below $60, the sound quality on this earbud delivers, if not exceeds expectations. Right out of the box, without changing any settings, the sound quality is awesome. However, do not expect any bell and whistle like a $200-300 earbud or headphones. With the accompanying Sony app, I can customize the settings even more to deliver the sound quality to my liking. I use this as well on conference calls, and the sound is good and clear. It connects to my MacBook and iPhone seamlessly back-and-forth, which is perfect. No need to keep connecting and disconnecting between devices. Awesome earbud for the price point.

I already own a pair of ULT WEAR Sony Headphones which are amazing, so I was excited to try these new WC-C510 Earbud Headphones to bring with me on flights, as I don’t bring the ULT WEAR with me when I travel. These Earbuds come in a nice compact charging case that charges with USB-C, but you’ll need to supply your own USB-C cable and power adapter as none are included. The battery life is 11 hours and another 11 hours with the case, for a total of 22 hours which is more than enough for me on long flights. Every 5 minutes of charge in the case, will give approximately 1 hour of playback.Pairing works well, and 2 devices can be paired for a multipoint connection which means you can quickly switch between 2 devices without the hassle of disconnecting one device and connecting the other.I have the Earbuds paired with my iPhone for Spotify music streaming and with my iPad for Netflix movie streaming. I switch from one device to the other seamlessly, which is very practical. The Earbuds work with the Sony Headphones App for configuration and settings.Headphones Tab:The top of the Headphones tab indicates the current battery status in % for each earbud and the charging case, On/Off button for the Earbuds, the Tutorial on how to use the Earbuds, as no printed manual is included and access to your online Sony Account which you will have created when setting up the App initially.Status:- Shows the 2 current Connected Devices- The track playing on the current device- Switching device between devices, shows the track playing on that deviceSound:- Settings for Ambient Sound, Equalizer , 360 reality Audio, Bluetooth Connection and DSEESystem:- Connect 2 devices simultaneously On/Off- Change the function assigned to L/R Earbud buttons- Quick Access Settings- Notification and Voice Guide settingsServices- Setup Spotify One Tap button which starts playing music automatically based on your listening tastesActivity Tab:- Listening history of what you listen too. Initially takes 10 days to accumulate a log- Logs of how you used your connected Sony Headphones and Earbuds by action, Stay (Sitting), Walk, Ride and Run- Safe Listening, listening habits by week, month and year- Badge, achievements you have completed while using HeadphonesMenu:- Other information and TipsAs I installed the App on my iPhone, iPad and Android phone, it was seamless pairing and then using these devices with the Earbuds. When it came to use my old iPod Nano and my G1 Android media player it was a bit more complicated, as I can’t install the App on these devices, but there’s a solution. Put the Earbuds in the case and press the Pairing button on the back and eventually they will show up on the device.I’ve paired 5 devices, and can use 2 of these simultaneouslyThe button on each Earbud accomplishes specific tasks such as Play, Pause, Volume Up/Down, Next/Previous Song etc., and are all easy to use and remember. The Earbuds come with 3 cushion sizes, I prefer the Large, they fit well and are comfortable in the ears and the sound quality is excellent, but just missing some heavy bass which I like. They are IPX 4 Water Resistance for those who jog and sweat while listening to music. All in all, excellent Earbuds from Sony.
